MAEERS Maharashtra Institute of Optometry, a not-for-profit organization, is committed to deliver quality education in eye care.

Our Mission

To train young graduates & fellows into providing quality eye care which is at par with the best International standards - in a compassionate and ethical manner.
To deliver quality and specialized eye care services in Optometry to the population at large.
To expand our knowledge to improve quality of life, by way of research in vision sciences.
To reach out to the underprivileged population through excellence in community eye care services.
To contribute to the reduction of treatable and preventable blindness.

Our Vision

Provide excellent infrastructure and faculty to train people in art and science of Optometry.
Demonstrate excellent eye care services being provided in the Hospital and eye clinics to lead by example.
Provide opportunities for students to develop leadership qualities and social responsibility towards the community.

Optometry is a primary health care profession in eye care. Optometrists are specialists trained to examine the eyes, diagnose diseases, and manage visual disorders by prescribing spectacles, contact lenses, low visual devices, and eye exercises. A detailed eye examination can also reveal systemic conditions like high blood pressure, anaemia , or diabetes. Optometrists make a diagnosis and refer the patients to the respective specialists for further care and management. They also co manage conditions with ophthalmologists and other health care professionals.
